Devlog: An Endless Echo 1.01 & 1.02
Hi! First devlog of many (hopefully)!
An Endless Echo has been enjoyed by a few people already and I was surprised by the emotional connection players had with the characters. To improve that immersion, I've set out to fix all bugs I could find these first days + plan out the future of the game, be it more content or quality of life improvements.
Regarding the new changes, all improvements from 1.01 are included in 1.02, but 1.01 is still up in case there's some game breaking bug I've not encountered yet in the newest version. Please, let me know if you find any.
Changes include:
-Fixed a bug that caused the camera to behave incorrectly in some systems.
-Fixed a bug that caused the walking animations of the player not to play correctly, according to their movement.
-Fixed a bug related to interacting. In certain scenarios, when interacting wasn't possible, the dialogue of the last interactuable character would pop up. This should be completely solved by now.
-Fixed an exploit that let the player attack multiple times at once when spamming the space button. This is no longer possible.
-Fixed a bug that caused, mostly after the exploit mentioned before, the sword to remain visible after the attack, which caused it to follow the player wherever they went.
-Added a system that prevents dialogue and souls from repeating.
-Some dialogues have been tweaked and fixed to avoid confusion.
-In some cases, due to the pan out movement of the camera while exploring the Last Halls, the right limit of the map could be seen. This should be fixed now.
-All music volume has been moderately reduced.
Future plans for An Endless Echo (don't take all of these as promises):
-An options menu both at the start and during playtime, including volume sliders and accesibility options.
-Spanish localization (even more languages if it's required).
-At least two new main characters that were left out so the game could be finished on time.
-More visual effects.
-More random souls.
-More fluent animations.
-A completely new room related to the lore of the Last Halls that was left out from development early on.
Have you played it already? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it! It's the second game I've made and, even though I'm aware of its flaws, I'm truly happy with the result. If you haven't played it already but you've reached this far. Why not give it a try?
See you on the next one!
